A look into Carifest.
Video by Calgary 4K Walking Tours — watch it on YouTube.
Steel pan, soca, and costumes built over months of evenings — Carifest is the loudest day in Calgary’s Caribbean calendar, and GCCA walks it as one band.
Every summer the parade takes over a stretch of the city centre — flags from across the region, trucks rolling through with the sound systems, food tents running until the music stops. Our members walk it together, at every age: grandparents on the route beside grandchildren in their first headdress.
The 2026 parade runs from Cowboys Park, 12:30pm to 2:30pm. Registering covers your costume — $50 for adults, $30 for youth — and the association handles the rest: the build, the transport, and getting everybody lined up on the day.
